Checking in to see if anyone has tried the Louisiana brand Boil Boosters? If so what did ya think? I was contemplating using the Zesty Citrus and the Mashed Garlic boosters this weekend.

Thanks,
Mike

Let us know how they turn out and what store you found them at. Looks interesting and I like that there is no added salt.

I live in Friendswood, TX near Houston. I found them at H.E.B. I usually add quite a bit of citrus to my boils with oranges and lemons. I have basically followed the same method since I was about 17. We’ll see how they turn out Sunday.

Yes this is interesting. I may try it out. Let me know how it goes. Do you plan on adding your normal stuff and just this as some extra?

Plan on adding them to what I normally use in place of the fresh lemons and oranges. I usually squeeze about 16 oranges and about 16 lemons.

shite. Hannan class of 98. Went to Baton Rouge until 2014 then Houston.

Anyway I would still probably squeeze some lemons and just use this as a little extra.

into 1 sack of bugs?

ETA: I see this has already been covered.
And even if he means 16 of each or even total between the 2 and not pounds, its a lot of lemons and oranges (still don't like oranges at all in my boil)
I put about 8-10 total lemons per sack if they are the non-juicy wal mart ones.

Yes I meant 16 each. The ratio of citrus juice to water is still extremely low. I have always done them this way and have had no complaints. To each their own. To me citrus compliments any seafood.

My neighbor does lemons and oranges and then a gallon of orange juice in addition.

They come out good. Its not my thing if I am boiling them. Sometimes its nice to have something different though.

I have tried concentrated lemon and orange juice, it just doesn’t give the same flavor as the fresh squeezed.
