Has anyone traveled there to eat at the Big 3. ( Smittys, Kreuz, Blacks) all in 1 day.

Lol, stupid post is stupid. Most of Austin bbq is all about hipsters/yelpers going apeshit over the next bbq joint. And a stupid article from the DMN discussing Austins bbq scene growing, does not mean it has.
Go to Smitty's and Kreuzs' in Lockhart. Blacks is more about the sides than anything else.
Then drive 12 minutes down 183 to Luling, and go to City Market right there on the tracks. Get plenty of sausage there. It's damn good.

Daniel Vaughn is a great resource on Texas Barbecue through both his book and his website (LINK ). On his site you can search reviewed BBQ joints by map, by rating, by region, etc. As of now he's got only four 6 Star reviews out of nearly 600 places he's reviewed. Two of those are in Austin.
Regardless, Vaughn has done amazing work on the subject of Texas barbecue and anyone remotely interested in it should check out his site.

Been to all three, but only two in the same day. Black's sucks...IMHO.
