I'd agree with this, but the flavor profiles are very different which is why I put them equal. Depends on what one prefers.

Cosmik Debris came out last Friday. Hope I can get some.

I voted for NOLA this round. Not that I've tried anything from Hardwood though.

Next round my vote goes to Scofflaw or Parish.

Thanks for posting this. Fun distraction.

Well there's a hot take with little information.

At least bring some explanation.

A few months back you could buy one of their six packs of basement and have 3-4 completely different beers within that one six pack. I ran across this twice before giving up on basement completely. It was awesome a year ago..hazy juicy goodness..now it is a clear malty disgusting mess. POG Basement is also not the same beer it used to be and still a malty mess
When confronted about it they basically said 'wdgaf' and 'buy something else then..' which is fine but when it is accompanied by a picture of the entire staff flipping a bird and then ranting about how they have the shittiest choice of hops while making up a story about starting in their parents' basement yet having huge millions of dollars initial investment and saying "frick you we are fricking Scofflaw!" it makes their bitter malty mess...well, quite sour.

If you search you can find articles galore or do a search on /atlbeer subreddit

A ton of people love their inconsistent malty goop and it shows with their sales. I am not one of them.
Your mileage may vary.

Yeah. I would have a hard time picking Parish over Fonta Flora (round 1). But then again, that's different styles. Fonta Flora specializes in local ingredients and wild yeast. I'd much rather have Fonta Flora in my fridge than Parish, but i am a huge fan of sours, as well. I like IPA's too and Parish is top rate, but i'm more of a sour guy.

A more accurate bracket would be based on style, not brewery. But it's a fun little tournament to gin up local support.

But yeah, Scofflaw is walking away with this. 27000 votes compared to an average of 3k for everyone else. And they make good beer. Basement is a very good pale ale.

Between the 2, i'd pick Parish, honestly.

While i completely understand not wanting to patronize a brewery if i was in your situation, lots of breweries present this type of attitude to the public, to show off they are counter culture and do what they want.

I find the breweries that quietly brew up incredible beer and are nice tend to last longer. You can only say "frick you, we do what we want" to so many people before someone says, "well i'll buy beer from someone who isn't a dick" assuming quality is equal.

The worst is when they get political. It's beer, be proud of it. Don't insert a wedge between your customers by picking sides in politics.

I did a search.
Found almost all positive reviews on Yelp, Google, and Trip Advisor.

Not saying that is the deciding factor, but I didn't find the stuff you are talking about.

I am admittedly lacking in the ability to tell one batch from the next. I've enjoyed their beers from the can.

Have not been to the brewery yet.

Are you Brent?

I'm pretty familiar with their overreaction to criticism, which is mainly because of their top guy, I believe. He's a pretty nice dude I understand, but everything is over the top with them. I think their whole "we are who we are, like us or don't, frick off" thing is a little tired and overdone (Vortex, Bone Garden, etc.). Hopefully they'll dial it back, but people like the beer so much that they'll keep reinforcing all of that attitude and sucking up.

As for the QC issues, I haven't experienced any and I drink a ton of Scofflaw at home and at the brewery. It's probably more consistent now than it was 8-10 months ago IMO.

Good to know.
I tried the canned POG B since it is everywhere lately and it was still a copper malty mess to me. There is just so much other good beer coming out of Atl now that I choose not to really waste any more time on them. But again, that's me.
Jekyll's Secret Apollo IPA is everything I've been looking for in a local 'NE Style' IPA. It's fantastic. Give it a go if you can find some.

Also got a bunch of Bearded Iris in Chattanooga this weekend and it is just simply unreal.

Exactly. Don't put too much thought into this crap bracket of who can get the most votes using social media.

No way Nola makes it out of the first rd vs CC if this bracket was based on blind taste test results. The bracket idea would be fun if you had experts taste various beers from each brewery then vote.

Southern Juicy Juice from Jekyll is very good as well. I'm also a big fan of many of Monday Night's IPA's lately.

There is some new IPA by Monday Night I saw a write up on but can't find. Can't remember the name off the top of my head. I like Monday Night but got a little bored with their offerings.

Jekyll is rapidly improving IMO. I thought for a while they were going to go into that Red Brick/Red Hare category of decent but forgettable.
