The best fried chicken I've had in 10 years, blows away Frickin Chickin, Delpits, and Jacques Imos. Quality, large pieces perfectly cooked and seasoned.

Chicken nuggets for the kids more of the same, quality white meat with perfect breaking and extremely juicy.

Shrimp and grits were OK, but the fried yard bird is the star.

Also the Bloodys are out of this world, but they needed to change the glassware, rocks glasses are not a good vessel with a ton of salad in the drink.

Love the prices, manager very present, slower service but very attentive. Attribute that to the kinks.

I really hope they make it. The lease has got to be killer there and without a ton of tables I can see slim margins. They have my support.

Also, freshly breaded fresh fried okra like maw maw. Hit all the way around!

you're the second person I've heard say good things about this place. I was skeptical at first.

Get the 3 piece meal w/ cornbread and sweet potato bread pudding side.

I'll buy it for you if you don't agree.

Thanks for the review. I have never given a restaurant at that location the time of the day, and with good reason. But like Elleshoe said, this isn't the first time I have been told Leroy's is actually pretty good. I will definitely give it a shot

Are you serious?? I thought their chicken was on the level of Golden Corral. Nowhere near the level of Delpit's or Jacque-Imo's. Only thing I really cared for was the sweet potato bread pudding.

they were almost TOO big, and didn't pair well with the ranch.

I honestly don't understand these Yelpers or Urbanspooners who post a review on everything. He reviews Domino's, GOlden Corral, Hibachi joints. Breaking down the intricacies of crust to cheese on a cheese stick and discussing it's pairing ability with ranch. Dude, it's a cheese stick and ranch. I just don't understand the gratification a "discriminating palate" gets in blogging about such things.

It's reasons like that I take most reviews on those sites with a grain of salt.

I thought Leroy's was awful. I had a burger because I wasn't feeling chicken. It was the worst burger I've eaten in 10+ years. It was that bad.

Friend had the fried chicken and said that it was fried ok but had no flavor whatsoever. he claimed any fried chicken fast food place has better seasoned chicken.

I've had the chicken twice. It's as good as Frikkin Chicken and Delpits. I've had nothing else.

And Jacque Imos chicken was only good when Austin Leslie was there fifteen years ago. It's not a top five in New Orleans by any stretch and ole Leroy is much better as is Delpits.

Well at least every review isn't negative, he puts Gino's on par with Commander's.

All I'm gonna say is that if you don't like my reviews, then don't read 'em.

Sorry, but I thought Leroy's sucked, plain and simple. My wife and son agreed.

No way would I put it on the same level as Delpit's (Chicken Shack). Delpit's is made fresh when you order; this stuff tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. It was bland and not seasoned well. The meat was dry, as was the cornbread. It simply was not good. I'd put it on the same level as Church's, and that's being very generous.

As for the cheesesticks, if the waitress tells me that she recommends them, I expect them to be good. They weren't. They didn't taste go well with ranch and would have been better with marinara, which they didn't have.

You don't have to agree with me, but apparently some others in this thread felt the same way. So deal with it.

If you are critiquing cheese sticks I'll just stop reading there. Ranch versus marinara. This board is suffering.

All I gotta say is, if a restaurant review really upsets you that much, I really feel bad for you.

Many here are very easily upset. I wouldn't sweat it. Just keep bringing the honest reviews. They're refreshing, and I'd say pretty well thought out, and although I may not agree with every single thing, I do appreciate you putting thought and reason into what you critiqued. Most don't elaborate because I don't think they know what to look for or should be looking for, or even that there is something they should be looking for in order to be descriptive in a quality review of a restaurant or dish, except for service. That's certainly not everyone, but enough to make it juvenile at times.
