I brew a pot in the morning. Leave everything ( usually a half inch of coffee and used
Grinds ) till that night . Dump the grinds out that night before bed . Do a quick rinse on the basket . Rinse pot . Put basket back in coffee maker . Fill coffee filter in basket with grinds next morning . Brew a fresh pot . Quit being a puss.

On a tangent, how many folks here re-use their coffee cup multiple days? If you do re-use it do you rinse, or just drink it/pour out whatever is left and wait for the next day. I have a coffee cup at work that I use daily (2-3 cups a day) and haven’t washed in a couple of years. Just like my cast iron pots, it is well seasoned.

I find this to be vastly more disturbing than what OP’s wife is doing. Why not at least rinse it with a bit of water? Leaving perpetual coffee dregs sounds horrifying

I rinse mine, I just don’t wash it. I drink my coffee black, so I’m not worried about leftover cream or sugar being a breeding ground for bacteria.

Ok, that I have less of an objection to. The way you worded it before, I interpreted it as that you would throw back the last bit and just leave the rest that’s clinging to the walls to slowly drip down and congeal at the bottom, to just be picked up the next day with the next pour.

And I think you could understand that interpretation based on your cast iron seasoning line

That’s fair, but it is, uh, well seasoned…

Someone on the board did tell me that I use ingredients like “EBT gone wrong”, so you’re not alone in your assessment.
