Had this the other day while in Austin at Chuy's ...

quote:

Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken

A Chuy’s original. A tender chicken breast breaded with Lay’s® potato chips, deep fried and smothered in Green Chile sauce and cheddar cheese. Served with green chile rice and refried beans

and now I can't quit craving it ...

Anyone else ever used crushed up potato chips as the breading before for chicken?

never used it in a deep fry but i've used it as baked breading before. haven't done this in years but we would take chicken breast, cut in bite size pieces, hit with an egg wash, then coat with crushed chips. bake in the oven until chicken cooked/coating a nice brown color. would use two or three different flavor chips for variety.

people would wipe these out at gatherings to watch sporting events. for some reason, it doesn't sound nearly as appetizing today as it did at the time....

First time I went this past week ... I'll be back for sure.

Which one do you go to? I was at the Round Rock location.

I've had a chicken fried steak that used jalapeno potato chips as breading.

Mmmmmm...fatty.

Sounds good ... I just cooked the Fleming's recipe of Mac and Cheese last night. Damn that was very good.

I've heard of people using crushed Zapp's craw tators in their breading. But, never actually seen it in action or tasted it.
