Went not long ago and have pretty mixed feelings about the place. Like another poster said, the salsa tastes like straight up marinara sauce.
I wanted to order a few different tacos and ordered the 3 taco combo but was told you cant mix and match the tacos. Wtf. You cant even order them a la carte. So youre stuck ordering 3 of the same tacos. The tacos were good but not being able to order different tacos is pretty lame.

I hope they stick around bc Baton Rouge needs a better choice of “Mexican” restaurants.
All I need is El Tio

I went about a month ago and ordered take out and had almost this exact same experience + the tacos got really soggy by the time i got home (i live 2 minutes away). and had to get all Al Pastor tacos bc they wont let you split up the order like you mentioned, didnt make a lot of sense.
will give them another chance and try sitting inside or at the bar

You'd think with what I assume to be lots of people trying to mix and match their tacos, they'd change that rule. What a strange thing to not allow.
And what kind of place doesn't let you order tacos a la carte? What if I just wanted a shite ton of tacos for a party or something? Gotta get a combo meal?

Yeah that’s odd. I mean it’s not difficult to put whatever you want on top of a tortilla.

I actually ended up at LA chilanga because El tio was closed. They had a sign that said they were short of people
Went a few days later and ate. The a/c didn't work and the place was hot as hell. Didn't even turn the fan on in the place. The fryer wasn't working so no chips or anything like that. My waitress never came to me after the initial give me a menu and the poor girl on her lunch break had to come help me in between her bites of food.
The food was good though

we went a couple weeks ago and it was similar. the main girl that's been there for years is back in Mexico, and the waitress they had working was not much of an english speaker. they had a guy in there on a ladder in the dining area doing some glass work, he was basically her translator. I think they're going through a rough patch
still the best salsa and tacos in the city though
