The Daily Donut b/w Prairieville and Gonzales (across Airline from the Bayou Bar) has great doughnuts. Closest replacement I could find to KKs once the one on Siegen closed (fricking Atkins' diet).

Southern Maid are pretty good, as are those from Thee Heavenly Doughnut on Highland.

Mary Lee's are too fricking greasy.

KK's (imo) are not only the best when they're fresh, but they're better at room temp than any other brands at room temp. The only better donuts I've ever had are Voodoo Donut of Portland Oregon.

I've grown out of the KK donut phase and am now solidly in the Dunkin Donut corner

I live on the South end of bluebonnett across Perkins. There really are no viable options in that area for donuts. I'm pretty upset about that.

I do not feel sorry for you.

You give off the impression in this thread that you're uppity and pretentious.

Seriously?

I do apologize. I'm not at all. Most of my posts are mostly just for fun. Long timers here will attest.

I have eaten a ton of KKs but I'm mostly clowning around.

Don't tell anyone, but I could eat at Red Lobster or Olive Garden and have a good time.

edit: I am most impressed by the way you addressed this issue. Rather than name calling you succinctly and effectively presented your observations. Very nice.

Dunkin

is clearly the better donut

the cake or the yeast is by far better than KK

the issue here is not the frosting

That's why you think you like KK better. They are addicting you with sugar

the Dunkin donut is King because of the donut, not the sugar. Here is my suggestion. Get a KK without the "sauce" and a DD without the sauce.

You will love the dunkin. You might be able to swallow one bite of the KK.

so you a donut eater or a frosting eater is really the question here
