What’s the best places to eat in Kansas City? Doesn’t necessarily have to be bbq, anything that’s good

What kind of food you looking for?
Corvino, Extra Virgin, Farina, Stockhill, Story, Novel, Antler Room are all high end type places that are all highly regarded. Farina is my favorite restaurant in town. Of the others, I’ve been to Corvino, Stockhill, and Extra Virgin with great meals. Corvino does tasting menu and regular menu. Stockhill is a steakhouse. Extra virgin is tapas. Michael Smith owns and operates Farina and Extra Virgin and he’s a James Beard chef.
You will get a lot of BBQ suggestions. I live in KC and honestly think the bbq is a little overrated. I think Slaps does a good job, its on the KCK side. Z Man at Joes is also very good. I really like CharBar, I feel like it doesn't get enough love. The most popular ones are Jack Stack and Q39. I used to think Jack Stack was overrated until I started getting the beef rib; its real nice and they have good sides. The do burnt ends well in KC so go for those. Harp is another BBQ spot that is consistently hyped as the best in town; its more Texas style BBQ and I've heard its awesome.
KC has a very strong brewery scene. Casual animal, cinderblock, KC Bier co, Boulevard (the flagship brewery), city barrel (also has great food). Many many more to choose from.
I have other suggestions based on preferences.

Tiger rag gave some good suggestions.
I’d add Earls Premier and Bacaro Primo. Both owned by same guy. Earls is like an old school New Orleans seafood neighborhood restaurant. Really good. Bacaro is Italian. Both are amazing. You have to get reservations well in advance for both.
Another bbq spot is Meat Mitch. Really good.
For beer BKS has some of the best. Small brewery but awesome beers.

I second Novel. The Belfry has good food and the best whiskey selection I've found in the city. Lidia's and Regazza are good Italian. Manny's good Mexican/TexMex. Prime Sushi is good sushi.
BBQ you pretty much can't go wrong. My favorites are Bryant's, Joe's, and Q39. They are all somewhat different.
KC Bier, Alma Mader, and Boulevard are the 3 breweries I like best. Casual Animal and the other half dozen or so breweries down in the Crossroads area are all meh IMO.

Haven’t been to Fairway, wondering if they have the same homemade Italian Sausage? One of the things that made Mcgonigles. Best Italian sausage if ever had .
