San Juan, TX actually, but the whole area is kind of one big city.

This was my first time in the Rio Grande Valley. It is a cool cultural experience in that everyone speaks Spanish, and the culture is very Mexican- it's at least as much Mexico as it is Texas there.

But if you are a foodie, it is worth the trip just to go for the weekend and eat. You have not had Tex-Mex until you've had it here. Every hole in the wall has the best tacos, fajitas, and other sundry Tex-Mex favorites you have EVER had. It is also very close to the Gulf, so the seafood is very good.

It is absolutely worth a weekend trip for the adventure and especially for the FOOD.

I've been down in the Valley and agree the food is excellent. More Mex than Tex-Mex. I was lucky enough to have a local show me around so it made going into the hole in wall places real easy.
