Meh.

Had their much-hyped "prime rib" poboy. The name needs to be changed to "crappy-grade sirloin" poboy, IMO. I've had higher quality meat at Ryan's and Western Sizzlin.

Definitely makes my list of most overrated restaurants in BR, joining such others as The Chimes, Dempseys, Flemings, and Georges.

The one time I went, I got the boiled crawfish, and they were legit.

I've only raved about the crawdads.

You're name keeps reminding me of Kidghilcrest. Or however the frick that dude spells his name.

I agree. It is OK food for lunch and a decent place to grab a beer and some crawfish.

Anyone that doesn't like any of the three of the Chimes, Sammy's, or Chelsea's is probably some sort of social degenerate.

Where do you get your good, casual, local, food with great/cold beer?

They make a mean fried cheese, if you are into that sort of thing.

When I was at LSU, before the 900 additions to the restaurant- Sammy's was a top notch place to drink some beer and grab a bite to eat. I never went there expecting USDA PRIME anything. But for the prices, I felt like it was an honest establishment serving good food.

The Nostalgia effect also adds to its charm for me.

Unfortunately these are the best places to grab a beer and casual food. Through Walk Ons there especially for place to have a drink. There are so many places that I like better around for quick unhealthy food (Tony's Deli, Bergeron's, Po Boy Llyods, Don's Mid City Market). But im still feel unsatisfied with the majority of the Po boys here in town

Well, you posted your experience and I appreciate that. I've never been blown away but never said WTF is this? It is what it is. Madly popular.

False.

I think Sammy's consistently has some of the coldest beer in town, and Chimes has a great selection.
