So I'm at the Chimes having a couple cold ones with a live-long friend from Monroe, when she says "Oh Have you heard about Johnny's coming down here?"

I said well I thought it was a just a rumor... and she said the News-Star (Monroe newspaper) had the address of where it's supposed to be. I said oh really!?! and she said yeah let me call mom and see if she can find the paper with said address. But we couldn't get a hold of her... (so we drank a few more pints and moved on to other topics)

Well now I'm here in Monroe and I'm gonna try and find out what I can

Does anybody know the latest on this???

Two pizza chains are set to increase their Baton Rouge presence in the next few months. Johnny's Pizza, a Monroe-based chain, will open a location in the Laurel Lea shopping center at Highland Road and Staring Lane in the next 90 days, says Mark Hebert of Kurz & Hebert Commercial Real Estate. This franchise location marks a return to Baton Rouge for Johnny's, which had several locations in the 1980s. The restaurant will offer dine-in and delivery, along with a pickup window. Plans are to open a total of three Capital Region Johnny's. Meanwhile, Hungry Howie's Pizza plans to open its third Capital Region location, on Coursey Boulevard, by June/July. The Michigan-based chain, which specializes in varied crust options, has locations on Nicholson Drive and in Gonzales.

True, but this was before this board turned Johnny's to legend status.

Questionable. I can think of a lot better locations.

What kind of pizza is it? I've honestly stayed out of the Johnny's pizza threads due to having never seen one.

It's fast food pizza. But I think it's 100x better pizza than Pappa Johns, Pizza Hut, or Dominos.

Coneyor belt pizza? Damn...

Curious to know what they do that makes them so much better than the "big 3" that the "big 3" haven't figured out?

Don't know. but i ate it sober and it was good. The nacho cheese sauce is awesome, the breadsticks were good.

I think it will do well in Baton Rouge.

I think it would do well in other cities also. The also do the "take and bake" which i dont know how pappa murphy's could compete with that.
