I second Babineaux's. In a converted gas station, not fancy, has blue collar and white collar crowd there for the excellent lunches.

Welsh is also just a few minutes away. Daigle's Sausage Kitchen and Cajun Tales

My mom's family is from Welsh, and I agree Cajun Tales is pretty good. We were exiled there after Katrina, and Cajun Tails was a regular stop, then.

What about Green's Cafe? I haven't tried it, but I've heard there are daily plate lunch specials.

Green's burger is pretty good, the rest of the food including the gumbo is pretty meh.

I don't think so. Evangeline's is/was on Main Street and Green's is on State.
