Dolester Miles- HIghlands Bar and Grille Bham wins the JB award for best pastry chef. Well deserved. Last fall took the wife and she had an amazing Satsuma Cake and I had a Sweet Potato Tartlet that was awesome.

Yeah and you got beat out by Denver.

Yeah the June Baby guy was on the David Chang thing on Netflix for,the fried chicken episode. I got,the feeling he was not doing very original food. Looked like a bunch of stuff you woukd find in Atlanta , Bham, Nashville and NOLA. Just capitalizing on being in Seattle where they have none of that.

Well, if you live in Seattle and have someone cooking southern food I’d be all over it. That said, not going in there.

That baw from Denver is legit. Ate at his first restaurant Fruition several times. We moved before Merchantile opened.

Bump to congratulate Highlands and their pastry chef. Both are very worthy of the recognition.
I go there for a drink after work about once a month and am treated like a true regular. Best bar service in the city (with the possible exception of my local hole in the wall). One of my favorite spots in Birmingham and a must for anyone visiting the city.
