Za za in Florence for sure

I would do a bit of reading on what's in season...in Italy it's not just about where you go but also how you order what's in season. The cuisine is more reliant on the produce etc...more so than French cuisine. Jmo

Most every resturant in Rome was great, none outstanding

There is a resturant was in a sunken old jail..
I can not remember the name, But other than dinner at the Vineyard in Anzio this was by far the best meal we had in 8 days I was there.

google is neat
Ristorante Da Ciceruacchio is the name of the place.

In Florence, the Mercato centrale (food market) is a beautiful food wonderland worth a visit. the food stall Nerbone, tucked into a back corner of the market, sells delicious, simple stuff at great prices with a few tables and chairs nearby...It sells stuff like bollilo sandwich (braised beef on a roll dipped into the juices), ribollita soup, and the classic Florentine tripe sandwiches. In an extremely touristed town, it is the sort of small spot patronized by local shoppers and market workers.
Forgot to mention Nerbone, I go here every time I am in Florence.

The best meal in Rome might have been a little neighborhood Market I found the first day. They had an old Deli in the back loaded with meats, cheeses, breads and pastries. A couple bottles of Vino and a case of water and we had a wonderful night on the Balcony.

Worse thing .. the Water
All they drink is Soda Water

Aqua Natural with Ice... learn that now if you want a normal glass of ice water..

Or just drink Vino the whole week

No, going over with the wife and sister in law and her husband for a bit. Right after I graduate and before I start work. They have all been before but I have not been to Italy, only France, England, and Scotland. Can't wait

I should have mentioned that I will be staying in the Trastevere in Rome. So any recommendations in that area are all the better.

If you want an authentic Bistecca Fiorentina, go to Sostanza

I agree with this.

As for Venice, nothing really stood out for me. I ate at an awesome place on Burano, not far from Venice, that had an incredible seafood risotto, but I can't remember it's name.

I haven't spent too much time in Rome, but the best restaurant I went to was L'Archeologia. It was a really cool place with good food and definitely a panty dropper for the wife.

It took me a time or two to figure out what they meant when they said "Gas or no Gas?" when I ordered water.

I had a wonderful and inexpensive meal at a restaurant called Zeus. Don't remember much about it now bc the Euro Cup was on tv and every time Italy did something good the waiter gave free wine.
