And there is an abundance of blue crab right off the beach. I went out and caught about 15 and cleaned them really good and put them on ice. After that I boiled them with some crab oil and seasoning. I melted some butter to dip them on and they were awesome. If you get in a similar situation I definitely recommend it, great meal that's almost free. Also, does anyone know why there are so many crab out there right now, I've never seen it like this before

Since the oil spill they probably have not been fished much by commercial crabbers so the excess are showing up at the beaches.

was there last week and couldnt find any at the seafood markets...(we needed a lot to feed all of us) the owner said it was because BP was paying them more to work for them than they made catching crabs.

Well you can go out to the beach and catch 20 of them within 30 mins, I've never seen anything like it

Yeah we went this past weekend and saw some people catching blue crabs. I wish we would've been able to catch a good many and boil them but we didn't have the time.

This happens every year the first week of Aug. It has nothing to do with the oil spill.

We caught about 4-5 large buckets of them in late August last year.

Just with those little nets you'd buy at a gift shop, they're easy to catch

My wife is bitching about catching them and bringing them home. Her love of lump crap meat is not working.

Yea- my family was down there this time last year & caught a couple dozen blue crabs in the surf. Boiled them up & had dinner!
