I lived in Memphis for a while and got spoiled on the BBQ there.

Just the thought of eating a McRib makes me gag.

I think Mickey D's is actually mum about the reason why. The production limits doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, though, considering other restaurants and meat packing industries that offer pork products (ham, bacon).

I assumed it was a promotional angle, whereas if it was a supply issue, they could simply offer a concrete date as to when it's available and unavailable.

I grew up on cheap processed food. A McRib was a treat when I was a kid. My palette has grown a little more sophisticated but I still love the McRib. I doubt the meat contains anything worse than all of the vienna sausages and hot dogs I've downed in my life. Besides, a true McRib connoisseur understands the pork rib patty is but one component of the McRib. The tangy bbq sauce, the chewy bread, the pickles and onion...the sum of all the McRib's parts = greatness.

McDonald's does have its time and place in my world. I am not ashamed that I do eat there on occasion, and I am not ashamed that I look forward to the return of the McRib every year.

I might be the only person on the planet that has never had a McRib, but after reading your post, I am now going on a McRib Quest!

This is not true. There is a pork glut and has been for sometime. Smithfield is closing farms and factory's because they can't sell all they process. That is why pork is so cheap.
