We had Shipley's in Tupelo for at least 25 years. They also sold MS Delta Tamales for years to give them something to sell in the afternoon. Last year Shipley's corp told them no more selling tamales. They said OK we will no longer be a Shipleys. They just changed the name and kept making the same donuts and selling tamales with no more Shipley's franchise fee.

Nothing better than a hot KK original

Only time I’ll eat KK is if it’s at a KK shop straight off the conveyor belt. Once they cool down their greatness is lost.

I wonder if that's the reason the one in Laurel changed branding. That was the only reason for ever stopping in Laurel when we drove through.

I’ve never had a glazed better than Meche’s. For those that have had both? Compare?

Probably. One family owns or owned the Shipley's rights in MS. Here is an article from the Tupelo newspaper about why they changed names but are still the same

"stores will have to follow the new company guidelines. That means local favorites like hot tamales from the Delta, certain dough rolls — or kolaches — and doughnuts that aren’t on the corporate menu would not be allowed to be sold under the Shipley’s name."
