Lately I have been craving a certain dessert that my maw maw used to make. I want to attempt to recreate it. Just need a little help with identifying it and a possible recipe if available. All I can tell you about it is that it had bananas, vanilla wafers, and a creamy sauce that wasn't cream cheese which I can't stand. It was more like a pudding I guess. It was awesome! Please help

I thought it may be that but I looked at the recipes online and seen meringue and cream cheese and said hell no lol. Maybe she just made a different kind without all that.

Really all you need is to follow the directions on the pudding box and then put in sliced bananas and nilla wafers

ETA- and I'm with you on the cream cheese thing. My wife made some banana pudding a while back and wanted to use a recipe with cream cheese but I was able to talk her out of that

There should be a proper banana pudding recipe on the back of the Nilla wafers bag.

There are several different versions of banana pudding with things like Cool Whip and/or sweetened condensed milk added to the pudding mixture. The one with Cool Whip makes the pudding mixture a bit lighter in texture. Google those and see if one sounds familiar.

Ok even you can cook this take 2 cans of peaches open cans and pour em in a 9v13 baking pan Take a stick of butter and widdle half of it on top of the peaches. On top of that sprinkle on a cup of light brown sugar dump on a box of yellow cake mix straight from the box and flatten it out and pat it down with a fork. Widdle the other half stick on top and bake like it says on box. Killer peach cobbler best warm with ice cream.......ya welcome
