I acquired this Nexgrill propane griddle today for free...

but it needs some TLC...what is best way to get this looking better?

That is down to the cast iron. You need to scrub those stains off with soap and/or salt with some water. I've seen videos of people using a rotating brush, too. Get it very clean, remove all soap and then very dry. Then do your seasoning routine with grape seed oil or lard or one of the seasoning blends they sell at big box hardware. Probably take 3-4 heat-ups/grease, wipe downs to get it ready to eat off.

hit that bitch with a right angle grinder with a wire brush on it or a sander with a high grit paper. I had one that was rusted up from sitting and I just did the above and been cooking on it since.

Sure. People on youtube use grinders and wire brushes. Brick won't hurt that steel.

I would try using Easy-Off oven cleaner first before doing any grinding or sanding.

Start with 120 grit, then go with 220 grit, finish with 320 or 400 grit.
