How'd I not know the Yellow Bowl near Jeanerette had closed?

Taking a drive tomorrow and was looking for a place to eat on the way back. I was checking in on it, and see that it apparently shut down in May.

What's the story here - anyone know? Place was sort of classic Louisiana treasure.

Sucks.

KATC article on Yellow Bowl's closure
quote:

due to overwhelming repair and maintenance issues, inflation, and labor shortages, according to the owner.
It's a shame. That place was around for almost 100 years.

I grew up hearing my parents rave about that place. They went there all the time in the mid-late 60s when they were living in Franklin. I went a few times in the late 90s and thought it was pretty good, but dad said it wasn't close to what it was back in the day.

There was certainly a tinge of ‘faded glory’ about the place, but the couple of times I ate there, which were this century, were still quite solid. It’s sad to see something that had been around so long go away.

Hard to find good help in Jeanerette. I used to love going to Yellow Bowl, it’s a shame they had to close.
