frick that, they should pay taxes same as I do. I'll give them 20%, but it's almost always on the card.

It's not all about taxes. The waiter will see all of my tip instead of some of it going to credit card fees.

which is less than 5%

so 95% of it is about undisclosed income

Generally 2%-3%

Not true at many places. Many restaurants trying to protect their own arse will claim you a standard amount for the amount of hours you worked if you aren't declaring any. Maybe 20%-30% at many restaurants for waiters these days are undisclosed earnings.

if the card is swiped .. which it almost always is at a restaurant .. the fees are anywhere from 1.85% to 3.5% depending on the card ... so on a $10 tip, if the customer pays with a VISA card, you are losing a whopping 18.5 cents ..

Yeah, if you're eating at Ryan's Buffet. I'm talking about when I entertain business clients and the tip is over $100. It's my choice that I want $3 to go to my waiter instead of American Express.

But I think she's in love Tyrann Matthieu because she keeps calling me a 'little ball of hate.'

It's just you.

Should I change the OP to "Lets discuss the appropriate tip percentage if you want to and if I'm not being too intrusive and if I am I'll put myself in timeout and while we're having this discussion can Rouge tell us how much money he makes and is he really paying all of his taxes to the government?"

the fact is that their is a considerable amount of pissing contests that go on in threads like this. it's almost as if people feel better about themselves based on the levels they tip

the amercian guilt trip into gratuity. it's pretty funny actually

What makes the pissing contest in this thread any different than the other two hundred a day?

And you didn't tell me how much you make.

me too. I feel that way at lunch. Some friends leave $1.50 because that's the double tax and I just cannot do that. Normally, $2-3 is about my minimum.

If the waitress is hot I'll give her more than "just the tip".
