How many here keep their favorite places to themselves

I know it’s common. I do it as I see so many gems in my area not mentioned in response to food inquiries and recently saw that The Villages in BR was exposed but not in a request for Italian in BR like it should have been.

I learned this lesson years ago on the UGA board. For gameday, there was one little hipster place on the outskirts of downtown Athens with plenty of free parking, but still walking distance to the stadium, hot breakfast and beer/wine, opened at 8am while everywhere else doesn't open until later. It was my secret spot before noon games. I made the mistake of posting about it on the UGA board and now there's a line out the door down the sidewalk before they even open the doors. I have a new place now that checks most of the same boxes, but I will never ever ever mention it online.

It's like fishermen with fishing spots.

No, if I like a place I will let people know because I want that place to succeed.
