How long will oysters stay fresh in the shell?

Going on a trip and want to bring a couple of sacks. How long will they survive and how do I prep and transport them?

Ice them down pretty heavy. Right now with the warmer weather I wouldn't want them in the shell longer than 3-4 days.

How long will you be traveling? Keep them cold and they will stay good for a week.

You can go 4-6 days easily. Keep them cold and out of any water.
