How long to defrost a 9lb butt?

3 days more than likely, depending on the tmp of your fridge.

I normally put mine in the fridge on Wednesday and it is good to go by Saturday.

2-3 days. I recently smoked one on a Sunday. I took it out Thursday afternoon and left it on the counter for a few hours then kept in the fridge until Sunday early AM.
There was a thread on here pretty recently where someone broke down the temps/etc.

I am going to let you in on a little secret. Even if it isn't 100% thawed out you will be fine. It will finish thawing in your smoker in no time flat.
