How difficult is it to make a cook book?

Seriously almost every time I'm disappointed in something I cook it's because I cooked it verbatim by the recipe in a cook book. I made a couple of dishes tonight that looked intriguing and I was not only underwhelmed but just didn't care for either one at all. I think I could just make something up on the fly much better in the same category.
I guess the whole point of making a cook book is to have cool looking pictures.

No, the reason you write it down is so you can recreate it exactly the same everytime...If you venture from the recipe...just make a note of what you did...if you don't like it...you can toss the note and try again....every cookbook I have ...is scattered with notes.

+1, especially if I omit an ingredient I think i'm not going to like, and it ends up making or breaking the dish.

It's really not all that difficult, I know a number of people with published cookbooks. Good recipes, quality photos, printing in China.
I collect cookbooks, plus I've got some that my father gave me with plenty of notes or adjustments scribbled in them.

Not hard at all. If you have Microsoft Works, there is a recipe book temp under works "data base".
I have actually started one for family and have requested that each family member send in their most requested recipes so we can all have copies. It will also be something that can be passed down to generation to generation.

All my favorite recipes are on my computer and my own personal "cookbook". Any time I find a recipe in a cookbook or from someone, I type it out along with any special notes or changes, and put where it came from. I print it out, stick it in a plastic sleeve sheet protector, and put it in a 3-ring binder.
