Color of the roux looks good, but a bit oily.

I always use hot stock, not room temp.

I’ll lose my man-card here, but my wife cooks the gumbo in our family. She has converted to using a microwave for the roux. Turns out great.

Okra only makes things better, including whatever type of gumbo someone is making.
