Bottomland, do you remember where you posted about the different saison yeasts and their tendencies? Seems like you wrote up something about them for Bug and damn if I can find it

Got a beer smith question. My mash profile is set to Single Infusion, medium body, batch sparge. On the On the brew step page I get the following.
Underneath that it says this.
Am I batch sparging this many times to get the gravity I need or to get to my preboil volume?
Thanks!
quote:
Mash In - Add 19.38 qt of water at 163.7 F 152.0 F 60 min
Underneath that it says this.
quote:
Batch sparge with 4 steps (Drain mash tun , 1.24gal, 1.24gal, 1.24gal) of 168.0 F water
Am I batch sparging this many times to get the gravity I need or to get to my preboil volume?
Thanks!

Change the preferences of your mash profile to check the box that says empty mash tun before sparging or something like that.
You should have two roughly equal volumes.
Usually my strike water is 4.5 gallons and my sparge is something like 3.5 or more.
I also bump the temp of the sparge water to around 188. Trying to get the whole volume of the mash tun up to 170 for the sparge.

What percentage shows for "using batches that fill"?
One says mash in with 19.38 qts, which seems right, and then the other tab says mash in with 12.5 qts, which seems way low

You close out of the tabs and refresh things to make sure that adjustment took hold?

Right click on anything you can think of and see if there's a setting that doesn't make sense.

If it still says 4 steps or whatever just add up the sparge water.
Compare it to Brew365's mash and sparge water calculator.
Google that

It's gets kind of overwhelming at times
After a few batches it gets better
I've made far more recipes than I've made batches though
