I know there's a whole thread devoted to it, but a lot of it is over my head. What would yall recommend for a complete novice? Kits, types of beer to start on, lessons learned, etc? Thanks guys

lessons learned

Clean. Everything clean. If it touches the wort after you stop boiling, make sure it's sanitized.

Unless you want your beer to smell and taste like Bigfoot's crotch.

Also, ask those guys in the homebrewer's thread. Homebrewers live to talk about shite like this.

Go to LA Homebrew off Pecue Lane. They can help with anything you would need.
