Amazon.com founder and CEO Jeff Bezos Cramer: Amazon could dominate food retail for next two years with Whole Foods deal
29 Mins Ago | 04:35
Amazon said Friday it plans to acquire Whole Foods Market for $42 a share, in a deal valued at $13.7 billion.

Whole Foods' John Mackey will remain CEO of the grocery store chain after the deal closes, and the store will continue to operate under the Whole Foods brand.

Amazon's offer represents a 27 percent premium to Whole Foods' closing price on Thursday. The deal is expected to close in the second half year.

This just to keep employees and stock holders calm...I doubt it will be long term.

Why would stock holders need to be kept calm? Do you see the premium they're getting?

Curious to see what this does to Amazon Fresh. I've been waiting for a proper grocery delivery service in New Irleans. Id probably pay the Whole Foods premium to not go as often to the grocery IF I could get my groceries same or next day.

I'm in a 3 month trial for Google Express and it includes Costco and Whole Foods, but I don't like that my first order on a Tuesday could not be scheduled before that Friday. And it only included dry foods.

One group bought 9% and apparently was a PIA to the CEO. LINK

$WFM was in the mid-50's just a couple of years ago. People think 42 isn't enough, as $WFM is 42.50 right now.

So keeping the CEO that presided over that decline would keep stock holders calm?
