Holland Grills vs. Weber Grills

Anybody have a Holland Grill or know anything about them? My parents are looking at one, but from what they told me, it's not really a grill, it's an outdoor oven, which to me defeats the purpose of having a grill.
I'm trying to talk them in to getting a Weber. I told Dad it's the last grill he'll ever need, but he's concerned because where his grill sits, it's completely uncovered, so he's worried about rust and corrosion. Anybody have any experience with either one of these?

I have a Holland Legacy. It is a great grill and carries a lifetime warranty. However it is more of an oven than a grill. It isn't the best grill to do steaks on however roasted chicken, ribs, beef and pork roast are all great on it. It dosen't have a lot of smokey flavor but definitelt better than just baking in an inside over. Hope this helps.

Also the Holland is stainless and will not rust.

I am very interested in hearing what people say about Hollands as well. I have one sitting in a box waiting to be used when I have the space.

i've got a weber and i love it. great grill. you can buy a cover for it for about 50 bucks that you'll need to replace about every 5-8 years depending on the weather. mine just sits outside on the deck. i've had it for about 9 or 10 years and no problems at all.

Got a Holland at the deer camp...it is an oven. better than inside oven but an oven.
Weber is a good grill, they last a while even exposed to the elements.
Check out portable kitchen grill. All aluminum, will last MANY years. The only thing he might have to replace is the actual grill and it is approx $45.

So a holland gril should not be someone's primary grill. That's what I was thinking as well. I think I can talk them into a Weber.
They have a Brinkmann right now that's about 5 years old, and the whole left side is done. Gas doesn't flow and the burners won't light. The right side is not far behind the left. I grilled some steaks on it Sunday and I might as well have been cooking with matchsticks. It was pitiful.

My webers sit out in the weather and they last about 4 years. I use it too much to be bothered with a cover.

I've had a Holland for 12 years. It's the best grill I've ever had. The sparker still works with one click of the button.
Food will never flare up on it and the flavor is great. The one drawback is that there is only one temperature and food takes a long time to get done. After 12 years I still often forget just how long it really takes to cook a few hamburgers or steaks.

The burner is cast iron. Cast iron burners suck. The cast iron will rust and start flaking off and restrict the small gas ports. They do have a lifetime warranty on the burners though. I have had better luck with brass or stainless burners. I think before I bought a Holland I would buy a pellet grill.

I have a Holland my dad gave me, rarely use it though...not sure why. But it has no heat adjustment...can only cook one way...low and slow.
