On May 28, 1989, I bought some Dreamland BBQ sauce in Tuscaloosa from Big Daddy himself. Dreamland wasn't open on Sundays then, but my friend's uncle was a restaurant supply guy who knew him and got us into the pit area.

He charged us $10 a quart for the sauce.

I enjoyed the drive back from T-Town because I was able to listen to the LSU baseball game on the radio. And they won! We even saw a deer on the side of I-10.

When I got it home, I compared the Dreamland sauce to some Blue Plate BBQ Sauce I had on hand, and I thought the "flavor profile" of the 2 were almost identical.

I listened to the second game while cooking some chicken on the grill using my precious Dreamland sauce. LSU won that game, too. That weekend was the turning point for LSU baseball.

That was the tournament that LSU beat #1 Texas A&M 2 games straight after battling back from the loser's bracket. Not a National Championship, but that ranks way up there for me.

Amazing how I can put all that together in my memory after all that time and a few hints from Kyle Peterson on the broadcast tonight.

It isn't gonna matter. Pulmonary has killed our shot at Omaha.

I'm kind of embarrassed that I had to read that twice before understanding.

You give up too early, BR. There's still some time before the whining needs to ensure.

I love Dreamland sauce. Very close to Blue Plate, but spicier. I order it often.

We actually went there first, but there was no one around on a Sunday. Dreamland was our second choice.

Big Bob Gibson's white BBQ sauce is tops. Especially on chicken.

Not a chicken fan, but thanks BB.

Love a pressed pulled pork sandwich with the pork tossed in Dreamland and a little cup for dipping.
