Have you built a table for your Kamado?

So I've obtained at Kamado Joe Jr. and Big Joe. I plan on building a table to house both grills.
I was wondering if any of you had undertaken such a project or had one built for you. If you could do it again, what would you differently? What would you add? Type of wood? Finish?
Any suggestions are welcome.

I did. I used Cedar. I used several coats of marine Spar. Like 8 to be exact. I wish I would’ve used larger wheels. I think I under estimated the weight of the BGE. Although my table moves, it is difficult sometimes.

Try message boards on FB or forums. People offer free advice and cut list on tables they have built. I don't own the grills you mentioned, but there is a FB page called Weber Grill Tables that has a ton of info and pics.

The EggHead forum has a ton of information. There is actually a board devoted to the tables. There are a ton of pictures which could give you ideas.

I've been to kamado guru but not the egg head forums. Will look into those. I honestly just hate the format of those forums.

Did you do 2 or 4 wheels?

I used 4, but only 2 are locking. If you anticipate moving it around a lot, then spring for some decent wheels. I store mine in a slightly different area than I cook.

I was planning on putting 4 heavy duty, hardened rubber casters on mine simply because I'll want to move it depending on wind direction.

That looks good. Make sure your leg width is wide enough for the hole pattern on the caster.

Yeah whatever I do will be flush with the leg.

A dude in Pensacola built mine out of cypress for under $300 if I can remember correctly. I built my first one and it was too heavy with slab granite.

I like that a lot but will need a mobile one.

That is a good start.
"Link 2" won't work though.

i'm about to undertake the same. i've built one before for a medium egg, but I used 4x4s for the legs. have a medium and a large and am going to try to build one table for both. i am going to start with the links i provided and draw it out tomorrow.

I'm hoping to start mine in the next few weeks. I'm building a new home right now, so I don't really have anywhere to put it. Look forward to seeing yours. I'll use this thread as an update for mine.
