I was thinking about trying to make some home made yogurt, mainly for a health experiment.

Have any of you made it using sous vide before? I know you can make it in an instant pot but I left that in TX.

I have. Pretty simple. I just used the ChefSteps recipe on Joule.

The recipes I'm seeing call for yogurt as one of the ingredients

I'm trying to make from some crushed tablets

You can also heat milk to about 190, then let it cool to 110 or so, stir in some active culture yogurt, then put it in the oven overnight wrapped in a towel with the oven light on for heat.

Only hard part is gently heating the milk, stirring often, and not scalding or scorching it on bottom of the pot.

InstantPot is easier, but this works well.

Method I found says to keep at 110 for 30 to 36 hours

It works. Just refrigerate afterwards. Can also strain if you want a Greek style.

I don't know about scrambled eggs but the sous vide egg bites that you can get at starbucks are delicious

I'll probably be looking to create some sort of copycat once my anova gets here

I’ve done the sous vide egg bites as well. All the recipes call for either heavy cream or cottage cheese.

When I used cottage cheese you could only really taste the cheese. No egg flavor.

I prefer to just do “hard boiled” at 190. Really nice texture.

BTW I posted a thread on the health/fitness board about what prompted this inquiry. Might want to check it out
