Something I do with leftover wine for cooking is if I know I won't drink all of the bottle, you can make ice cubes with the wine and use it in cooking. Great preservation method and better than some junk wine to cook with. Personally, I only cook with wine I'm willing to drink.

Secondly, Mondavi Oakville Cab has a lot of sourcing from To Kalon vineyard and they usually have a small point in time when they drop the wholesale price pretty signifigantly to move onto the next vintage. This wine is a steal at the 30-35$ price point.

Well if you call me out in the original post don't expect me to kiss you on the cheek. And considering how many wines are out there with screw tops and many, many good wines, I find his post to be somewhat of either a lie or just plain stupidity. Complaining about someone bringing a screwtop wine than claiming no knowledge of them being used then claiming his wine country travels doesn't add up.

We went to a gathering last night. We opened twelve bottles of wine. All very well made. Eight had screwtops.

Absolutely agree. And speaking of screw tops, I had an incredible Catalan (the French version)for an unblievable price last night with some halibut I cooked . . . cote EST. Amazing value, imo.
