In the market for a grill for my first house and am looking to get something that will last, this seems to be a pretty crucial step in a guys life lol. Should I go gas or charcoal? any advantages of certain brands? I already have a smoker that I inherited, so the grills wont be used for smoking. thanks in advance!

get a ceramic if you truly want longevity, as well as versatility

If you want longevity, go with a Weber natural gas grill. Dont get me wrong I love my BGE, but have had my Weber for 7 years (Stainless) and never had to replace a part. It is always ready to go even for last minute ( never runs out of Propane). The $250 I paid to have the line ran will totally be recouped when I sell the house.

Weber is a great option in either gas or charcoal. Have been very happy with my little Weber gas grill I got 6 years ago.

If you just want to grill burgers and steaks then gas is great due to ease of use.

If you find you would like to use the grill for different cooking styles charcoal/pellet would suit you better.

A lot of options now with ceramic and pellet cookers.

Not many fancy grills can beat an old school Weber charcoal grill. They’ll last longer than you.

I don't have any. Interesting concept and maybe a throwback to earlier grills. Grill dimensions may be restrictive depending on what you are trying to cook.

Mainly grill will be for burgers and steaks if Im hosting and need more meat i will just use the smoker it can hold plenty. I would say most of the time cooking for 2-5 people tops.

I have the Weber Spirit E-210 and it has done everything I wanted. Most of the time its just me and the wife, sometimes a handful of other people that are over for dinner. Its not expensive and hardly ever have to refill propane. If you are looking for a small and durable gas grill it fits the bill.

*For a little more you could explore pellet and ceramic options. But if you want to keep it simple and on the cheaper side this one has served me well as will any Weber product.

This. I have had one for about 7 or 8 years and the only thing I have had to do to it was replace the cooking grate a few years ago.

I have several PK grills. I love them. They do a great job of holding heat for prolonged cooks. I have a Crown Verity for tailgating. Best grill I’be ever had. Heavy duty and heats evenly and quickly.

Just get a Weber kettle. Will last as long as you do.

Friend of mine has a PK grill and loves it. He uses it to smoke pork butt and it is fantastic. By the way, the grill is 50 years old - in terms of longevity, that answers that.

Another friend of mine had a Hasty-Bake charcoal grill. He won championships in Oklahoma, even sold his own seasoning and marinade in stores until he passed away in 2007.

I have a Weber Spirit propane and am pleased with it.
