Griddle recommendations for bbq pit

Looking for griddle recommendations to go on bbq pit. Do you guys use stainless steel or cast iron?

I had a welder make one for me years ago and it was stolen, replaced it with a cast one. I liked the stainless better because it was easier to keep clean. I keep begging the welder to make me another but have not convinced him yet.
