I think everbody agrees that the MAK pellet boss controller is the best on the market. I have ran a ton and a half of pellets through my MAK 2 Star General with zero problems.

About the same here through my Yoder with no issues, I will just say they both are very good at what they do with each having its strong suit.

I assume you are being serious, they make what are IMHO the best pellet grills on the market. LINK

I was, but I'm not seeing one that's in my anticipated price range (up to about $700 or so). Those look to start at at least twice that.

That was a helpful post. Thanks!

I may need to head to a local dealer and check out the Daniel Boone.

I'm digging the GMG Daniel Boone that i got back in November.

If you have a moment, would you be able to do me a favor and measure the width WITHOUT including the side table on the right? I don't think the full width with that table down would fit on my balcony where I want it, but it might without the table.

27" wide + 11" for pellet hopper

so 38" wide with the side table folded down.

good luck

Nice, thanks. I've got 46" of width so that might work perfectly. It says 56" wide on the website. Did your measurement take into account the exhaust pipe?

Fellas, I've been doing some additional research and I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on the Green Mountain Daniel Boone today.

I considered for a moment the Rec Tec RT-680 but didn't find anything that justified the additional expense, and it didn't have the integrated meat probe.

The build quality of the Traeger's worried me, and the Camp Chef had great reviews, but for the additional expense didn't seem to offer anything beyond what Green Mountain does.

Until this thread I had never heard of Green Mountain, so thanks for the reco.

Got it. This thing is substantial.

Quick question for other GMG owners. I've got a decent gap between the lid and the smoker itself, which I'm sure will cost smoke and heat. Did/do you have the same? I've got some smoker gasket and smoker silicon on the way to close that up, but want to make sure what I've got isn't egregious.

ETA on the lid gap, I reached out to GMG and they asked me to send pictures. They just took my information and an entirely new lid is on the way. Damn, that's customer service.

I did the burn in of mine yesterday and placed the fire box/heat shield thing where they suggested. I placed a couple probes around the inside and noticed that the temp on the left side of the grill was 30-40 degrees cooler than on the right. That seems to be something others have reported, so I'm going to try moving the heat shield to the right to divert more heat to the left side. Were you seeing that with your grill?

It's not altogether terrible, so long as I know where the hotter and cooler spots are, but it would be nice to be able to adjust it so I can have a consistent temp throughout.
