I grew up on the south side of the county, so hot chicken wasn't something we had growing up, but I'll be damned if I'm not happy it took off. The stuff is delicious. I have a Helen's in a gas station down the street from my shop. Great hot chicken with no lines like some of the other places.

The one problem, and maybe it's not a problem, but rather just an aspect, is that it can be very inconsistent - even in the same restaurant on the same day. Bolton's is really bad about, as are some of the other places. Medium can be mild some days and super hot the next day. It's like playing Russian roulette. Hattie B's is probably the most consistent, but ain't no body got time to wait in those lines.
