Decent bar and grill near campus? The short answer is no.

If I were you, I'd consider taking a detour through Scott and hitting up Uncle T's Oyster Bar on St. Mary The oysters are really small right now so you may want to ask before you get any charbroiled ones. Anything out of their fryer is good. I highly recommend the Swamp Thing po-boy which is fried alligator and pepper jelly.

The bonus is that you can hit up Billy's for some boudin on the way out.

Otherwise, your only other real bar and grill option is Walk On's on Kaliste Saloom which is a 10-15 minute drive from campus, not to mention puts you in the WORST location for a drive back to BR.

These suggestions are from closest to furthest from campus (but still not really far)

Saint Street Inn
Pop's (their bar is good for mixed drinks, not much of a beer selection - maybe walk to Jefferson St Pub or Biergarten for beers after)
Legends
Dat Dog
Cafe 20.3

As others have said:

Saint Street Inn (New American)
Pamplona (Tapas)
Pop's Poboys (Poboys)
Legends (Burger and beer) there are several locations

Or, you can go to Johnson's for lunch, then maybe hit up Wurst Biergarten for a couple beers. That may be the best plan.

Not sure how far away from campus you're trying to venture out.

The Wurst Biergarten has food but it's mainly just bar food type stuff, still worth checking out though as they're always rotating stuff on tap and it's outdoors and the weather looks great tomorrow.

Pamplona
Pops Poboys
Olde Tyme
Johnsons
Legends
Agave is decent for mexican food but no huge beer selection

I would recommend this. Antlers, Pamplona and Pop's are right next to Wurst. That would probably be your best quality food and beer selection in close proximity to campus.

Cafe 20.3 is a low key option that has a very surprising beer selection for a hole in the wall spot near campus

Sure. It's right on the Vermillion with a dock.

You go for a swim and or a Kayak ride.
