Have an overnight in Minneapolis coming up and never been to Minnesota.

A. Is there any native/local cuisine or specialties I need to try?

2. If "no" for the above, are there any really good restaurants in/near town?

Native: Owamni

Local: Jucy Lucy @ The Nook

Good: Chimborazo (Ecuadorian), Tori (ramen), Union Hmong Kitchen, Vinai (Hmong), Khaluna (Laos), Young Joni (pizza).

Pastries: Marc Heu

Also, pick a cidery and go try it out. It’s something that we don’t have in the south and i’ve grown to like it since moving here. (I prefer a semi-dry. I find everything else too sweet.)

Monte Carlo - great steaks, atmosphere, and cocktails.

Young Joni, Manny's, Petite León, Martina, Rosalia, Pizzeria Lola, Hola Arepa, Spoon and Stable, Porzana, Owamni, Hai Hai, Bar La Grassa, Chilango...

Plenty more, but MPLS is one of the more underrated restaurant cities in the country. Coincidentally, I'm here right now (I try getting up here every couple months since I have a lot of UW friends that are from here / moved back after school).
