My girlfriend has been raving about this stuff since she got back from europe and i finally decided to go with her the other night...

She kept telling me it was sooo much better than ice cream and holy shite she was right!!!

Better than any ice cream iv ever had...

This place we went to is run by a guy who is from italy and had one of the best Gelato places in italy before he moved to BR and opened his place up here LINK

Theres a link about the guys place... I highly suggest it it was AWESOME!

I have seen these people around. I think they are related to the guy that owns the grocery store in Spanish town.

A lot of people find him to be gross/trashy/creepy for some reason. That Luca guy looks pretty cheesy but I've heard good things about Simone, the chef.

We were the only ones in there the other night and we talked to the owner for a little while and i didnt find him to be creepy at all. He was a real friendly nice guy who seemed to be very proud of his product and was very thankful for our business.

Its a rusty colored wooden building? Capital City grocery, I think. They have a damn good shrmip poboy. Spanish town is full of wierdos.

yep, I spend most my time 1 block from the store but go out of my way to avoid it. One time I needed milk because I was cooking something and the guy refused to accept visa due to minimum charge. I was a regular customer and yet he told me I had to buy more.

I have probably spent $5000 elsewhere over the last 4 years due to him being cheesy.

P.s. The op seems like an advertisement.

Can't open it right now, but I am assuming you are talking about the place that recently opened on Highland?

I have trouble finding good gelato in the states. There are 2 or 3 gelato places around me that are ok, but nothing like what I've had in Europe. Of course, things always taste better on vacation.

It's called "Latte e Miele" I think... Open 10 AM to 10 PM too, if I remember right. Haven't been in over a month, but it's DELICIOUS!

This is the place that helped open my eyes to what a wonderful product this stuff is.

Today I had some rich chocolate and a creme brulet from some place at a festival. Outstanding.

I don't know much about the place or owner that the OP was talking about, but if they guy was not clean cut and wearing the latest fashion that was acceptable, I guess the junior league in BR would reject him.
Glad to see you all have a good place that is doing Gelato.

Definitely the best and really authenic gelato in the BR area is the shop on Highland Road Latte e Miele run by Lucca and Simone. The make process is right out of Rome where they are from and I think that the Chocolate Orange and Milk and Honey are to die for. One trip there and you will know it is for real if you have ever eaten gelato in Italy as I have.
