I don't really like them. Never have, but someone brought me a crawfish stuffed fried pistolette from Bergeron's this week, at a time when I was starving. It was good. Not great, but good, when you're hungry. I think it has velvetta in it.

There was something creamy about this pistolette, but I really think I detected velvetta. It wasn't heavy on the velveeta, though.

Have no interest in them, plain fried, though.

Fried pistolettes became a fad in restaurants quite a few years ago, especially in some seafood restaurants. I've had them, hot and just out of the fryer. I didn't like them the first time, but tasted them a few more times, since some folks were raving over them. Just not my cup 'o tea. I prefer good hot New Orleans French bread with room temp butter slathered on it, any time.

On the other hand, I love beignets and I love those silly little fried canned biscuits with powdered sugar on them and a big side of bacon. Go figure...

I hope you've gotten yourself something to eat, by now.

If you're hungry, a lot of things sound good. To be fair, a lot of folks must like that fried bread because restaurants continue to serve them. I've wondered about the cost to fry those pistolettes, rather than just baking them.

I'm from central LA, I was amazed when I moved to BR that a lot of people had never heard of frying them...I always thought fried pistolettes with your fish fry was just like corn/pototes with your crawfish boil ...
