What kind of food you looking for?
Corvino, Extra Virgin, Farina, Stockhill, Story, Novel, Antler Room are all high end type places that are all highly regarded. I’ve personally been to Corvino, Stockhill, and Extra Virgin with great meals. Corvina does tasting menu and regular menu. Stockhill a steakhouse. Extra virgin tapas. Michael Smith owns and operates Farina and Extra Virgin and he’s a James Beard chef.
You will get a lot of BBQ suggestions. I live in KC now and honestly think the bbq is a little overrated. My favorite spot is Slaps. Z Man at Joes is also very good. The popular ones are Jack Stack (overrated and too mass-produced) and Q39. The do burnt ends well in KC so go for those.
KC has a very strong brewery scene. Casual animal, cinderblock, KC Bier co, Boulevard (the flagship brewery), city barrel (also has great food). Many many more to choose from.
I have other suggestions based on preferences.
ETA: someone mentioned Harp BBQ. I still haven’t been but they are consistently rated top in the city. He’s doing true Texas style bbq out at Crane brewing in Raytown. He social media pics always looks delicious.

We really liked Slaps bbq, and hit the arcade bar that's close after. Was a bit out of the way but really random and fun and then we beat the chiefs the next day.
ETA, so we liked the BBQ the local liked. That's a win.
There are also some microbreweries around town. We did a brewery crawl one day and it was fun. I think we hit casual animal, strange days, city barrel, and boulevard.

Good recs given. BKS brewery is one of best. Also Harp BBQ is probably the best in town, more Texas style and only served at Crane brewery on weekends. We recently went to Lulu Southern kitchen. It was really good.

Truth to both statements. Best Jack Stack is freighthouse, and it's not life-changing. Plaza is utterly average.
I like the smokey joe at Joe's but zman is good too.
Osteria Il Centro is great Italian and Grunauer is good Austro-German.
