i also used to yearn for the day when the papa john's food truck would start doing home delivery. i thought that out and solved that oxymoron on my own though.

that's his family that owns it..gug's no longer works there...he's either trying to better himself in another line of work or he got fired for boinking all the waitresses including the 2 ugly ones.

I am no longer associated with the restaurant. I did not get fired. Just doing my own thing right now...finding my own path.

I've actually never stepped foot in Dempsey's. I just like posting about the cup and a half because people on here freak out about it so much.

I went before and I think it's a great little deal. It didn't blow me away but half a poboy and a cup of gumbo is just a damn solid lunch.

Ahh, the picture is becoming clearer

No offense to the family -- I don't think it's bad, just not great.

None taken. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I like it a lot when you take the type of food, quality of the food, and the prices into consideration. They don't aim to be high end, fine dining but they take a lot of pride in making most everything in house (except the green beans!!!) and I appreciate that.

That's the thing -- I usually love these mom & pop type of places. I'd much rather eat at one of them than some corporate chain. I love Dorothy's, Delpit's, Stockyard Cafe, even Samuel's (when it was open). I just haven't had anything at Dempsey's that blows me away, and I always end up spending $40+ somehow.

Ok. Just curious. I'd try the seafood stuffed potato, catfish mornay, smothered chicken special on Thursday, and if you still are underwhelmed then it just might not be your cup of tea.

I think the family lives near me in Shenandoah; I think I saw the Dempseys trailer in their driveway.
