File cabinet smoker

There are many YouTube videos of turning an old file cabinet into a smoker. Has anyone done this?

I've seen it. I worry about the paints burning off and how it might affect the food. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want a burnt file cabinet in my back yard either. If I knew it was food safe, I would definitely try it for a tailgate.

I suppose you could turn a metal trash can or a stripped out old car into a smoker, but why?
