ETA: I never did taste the 9/26 version but the 10/6 tastes pretty much like you described. Almost like they used half the amount of hops or something.

That is a shame. During that period when the beer was so good, did DH fly off the shelves? Is it possible that they got complaints that it was too hoppy and dialed it back a bit on purpose?
