Really thinking about trying to figure out a way to collect hurricane water to use as brewing water. That would be a fun backstory to a beer.

If you could do it without getting it contaminated it would be pretty awesome. Strap a bunch of buckets together in the back yard and put some weights in them?

I can loan you a few buckets and weights and a strap if you need.

Depending on if we get the "don't come in to work tomorrow" email, I will probably brew in the morning. Get another beer going.

I'm coming over if so! Don't even care if I'm not invited. Make room!

What contaminates would I need to be concerned with, outside of dead animals/animal poop stuff? Leaves could be scooped out right? Everything else would be boiled off right?

I may take you up on that offer, you working all day?

You could put a screen over it if you have one to keep anything big out... or brave Home Depot. Honestly the biggest concern would be bugs and bacteria, but I think filtering and boiling should help that. Might want to pre-boil and filter prior to brewing just to be safe.

I'll be working all day, yes.

ETA: And I've been deemed "essential" so I'll be working all week or I'd be hanging out at the Fratastic Brewery tomorrow.

Maybe? Mineral composition might still be different than BR water. Really I think it's just for the novelty anyway.

good enough reason I suppose

I've always considered "why not?" a perfectly acceptable answer

could always just have a "wild" ale with whatever shows up

We shall see if I feel like doing anything to try and catch the water. I am going out of town for the weekend so I doubt I will have time to brew with the water.

Brewery operations times solely depend on LSU getting off their arse and making a decision about this hurricane nonsense. We have heard nothing about the status of the university being open or not. I am assuming that we will not be open but that is just an assumption.

People in the Isaac thread are saying that it's definitely closed? Saying their wife works there.
