You read the end of the thread yesterday??
I'm holding your beers hostage.
Heading out of town Thursday morning so let me know when's best to get them to you.

nice kegerator. Was that a upright freezer to begin with?
Yeah, was out of town for the last meeting. Yes, an upright freezer. I wanted it because I was planning on using it as a commercial kegerator and didn't want to lift 1/2 barrels over and into a chest freezer, but then got into homebrewing. I love this upright and will probably never get a chest freezer for a kegerator.
An upright freezer is automatic defrost and I think has better uniform cooling since it has a built in fan. I might be able to fit a 5th keg if I move the CO2 to the outside, but haven't played with that yet.

You keep it indoors?
I have one upright freezer already but the shelves are the coils so it's going to stay a freezer.
What model if you have a chance?

I saw it, but kinda late. Shitty day at work and it made me smile.

You in the NOLA area during the day tomorrow and Wednesday? I'd like to get the beer. Yuengling is a premium beer and worth some effort to get.

I had this beer a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was good.

Okay so I need to plan a trip to Calandro's in the next couple of days to pick up a 6 pack of good beers to sample.
I need you guys to list off 6 good starter beers that you think I could find there. Style doesn't matter, I want to try it all.

Yes, I keep it indoors, but I'm sure it would have a high enough RF rating to be kept outside since it is a freezer that will not be used as a freezer.
You have to get an upright that is automatic defrost. Those have the removable shelves. I bought this one used from craigslist a couple of years ago for $75. It is a frigidaire 13.7 cubic foot upright. Had to cut away the bottom two door shelves from the door to fit four kegs, but that was easy since it is plastic.
A couple of other advantages of an upright: don't have to build a collar as you can drill through the door without worry, don't have to have a tower or tower cooler, don't have to lift kegs over the lip of a chest freezer and you have a lot of space to store chilled (not frozen!) glasses and commercial beer.

Yes, regular schedule tomorrow and wednesday. Just let me know anything after 5 and we can work something out.

I completely agree. Between an upright or just a plain old fridge I think I could make something like that work.

Give everyone a second...
They'll come up with some good stuff. I'll throw Old Rasputin into the mix as an extremely flavorful strong stout.
Kim would suggest the Brooklyn Black Chocolate stout. Can't go wrong with either one.

Let's see. I suggest Ommegang Abbey Ale, North Coast Old Rasputin, Unibroue Maudite, Green Flash West Coast IPA, St. Arnold Endeavor and Stone Imperial Russian Stout for starters. Most of these are only in bombers though.

Since you are just starting down the craft beer path I won't get too hoppy or outrageous.
Sierra Nevada Kellerweis
St. Arnold Lawnmower
Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout
Anchor Steam
Nola Blonde
Nola Brown Ale

22oz bottles.
Pick up a Stone IPA and see if you like hoppy beers.
Think of fresh cut grass type smells and an overall crisp bitterness that kind of kicks your tongue into submission..
Drink the beers in order of light to dark color.

Ah
Is there a good way to store/seal it to keep it fresh once the bottle is opened?

No way to pick just 6, but those were the first 6 that came to mind. 2 from each of my favorite 3 styles.

Not really. A bomber is a commitment.
