The Deer Park Tavern
Klondike Kates
Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant
McGlynn's Pub & Restaurant
I interned in DE one summer and eat at the first three of these. Klondike Kates was my normal place. I didn't have a TV in my apartment that summer, so I'd go sit there and drink at the bar pretty often. They knew to get me a pitcher of yuengling as soon as I sat down. The two bartenders that summer were great. I wish I could remember their names still.
And oddly enough, I think there's gotta be a few LSU folks up there apart from the ones I know. I have a friend teaching in Wilmington, and just from the Reveille (LSU newspaper) I know at least four recent graduates are up there working for the News Journal.
It's a cool little state (and Newark is a neat college town [really became a college town after the Chrysler plant was permanently shuttered]). McGlynn's is up in the Pike Creek area, so if you were tied to Newark/UD area, not a surprise you did not make it up that way. Interestingly, the people that own McGlynn's also own The Deer Park.

I enjoyed my summer in DE, and we've got a little pipeline of LSU journalism grads going up to the News Journal, which is pretty cool.
I just remember in Newark going to Kate's one day when LSU was playing Texas in the CWS, and the bartender said she couldn't put the game on b/c other folks already there were watching the philly's or something and didn't want to flip over to college baseball. I walked out not that upset over it and went to some sports bar type place down the road. The bartender there wouldn't serve me a pitcher of beer since I was by myself, and he'd only serve me one pint of beer at a time. That was a shock for a Louisiana boy,

Wife and I watched the 2nd LSU-Long Beach State Game in the 1993 CWS in McGlynn's. It required some lobbying on my part to get them to turn one of the TV's to that game. By the end of the game, all of the TV's were on it and the place erupted when LSU won it in the bottom of the 9th.

Watching games when out of state and random bars are often some of the most memorable ones for me. People can really get on board with LSU when there's a Tiger in the house!

Funny, most people end up hating LSU after watching games with me...odd.

Fantastic.
On a different note. UPS told me that I have a Hunahpu waiting for me at home along with some other greats.

It's good. Not much mint, but very chocolatey
We are doing well, other than I'm too tired to sit up and drink good beer anymore

I remember those days. My baby girl hollered for the first year of her life. They quit crying eventually and grow up and start spending your money!
FBD is a Hopitoulas draft waiting on takeout pizza.

When the hell did Joplin start getting such good beer?
I have no idea. I went to Macadoodle's and they had a great selection- Dechutes, Arcadia, Bell's, Founder's, Lagunitas, Green Flash, Firestone, etc. I had also been to the Macadoodle's in Springdale, Ark and they had a solid selection as well.
Can't wait to try this Wookey Jack.
